Creixell beach and the Gorg

Creixell has a wonderful beach of white sand and shallow waters, in the north of the Costa Daurada. It is the perfect beach to practise water sports, or to enjoy a fantastic day on the beach with your family. It is almost 2 kilometres long and 40 metres wide (in its central stretch, shared with Torredembarra and Roda de Berà), and has two parts: Creixell beach and Gorg.

One of its main qualities is its moderate occupancy rate and its low level of urbanisation. This fact has contributed to the preservation of its natural beach, which, nevertheless, offers all the basic facilities you might need.

In the beach of Creixell you can see the old fishermen’s homes, traditionally known as Les Botigues de Mar (The Sea Shops), and the new ones which are closer to the beach. Here you can also see the Yacht Club, that holds a base of the Catalan school of yachting, and several seasonal kiosks, commonly known as ‘xiringuitos’, where different daytime and night life activities are held in order to make the holidays of summer visitors and local inhabitants more fun.

The beach of Gorg is a protected area of natural interest where you can enjoy an amazing natural environment. One of its major qualities is the fact that it is not crowded. Furthermore, here visitors get the feeling of being in a natural spot among dunes and swamps. The dunes, with indigenous fauna and flora, are nicely preserved. The Gorg is part of the protected area within the mountains of Torredembarra, and in 2018 has been awarded a certificate of Platja Verge (‘Virgin beach’) of the regions of Tarragona and Terres de l’Ebre.
